JUNCTION CITY, Calif. — Trinity County identified Junction City as a location for public outreach on the USDA-supported Redwood Rural Reach broadband initiative in October 2026. County officials promoted a community meeting on Thursday, October 8, at North Fork Grange, where residents were invited to learn about the regional project and explain their connectivity needs.
What the project is
According to the county’s September 30 announcement, Redwood Rural Reach, often called R3, is a rural connectivity initiative involving 23 communities in Trinity and Humboldt counties. The outreach meetings sought public input about internet access for households, businesses and community services. Junction City was one of the named meeting locations, along with Willow Creek.
The meeting date is now in the past. The county announcement should not be interpreted as evidence that fiber construction has finished in Junction City or that any individual address is eligible to order new service. Project boundaries, technologies, funding agreements and installation timetables must be verified with the project team.
Questions residents can pursue
Useful follow-up questions include which roads or neighborhoods are included, whether the project will reach remote homes outside the main Highway 299 corridor, whether there will be installation charges and what speeds and monthly pricing may be offered. Residents may also ask how the project prioritizes currently unserved locations.
For a remote community, reliable connectivity can affect schoolwork, emergency information, business operations and access to services. A meeting is an early engagement step, not confirmation of operating infrastructure.
